Antique Gold Fill Carved Stone Cameo Drop Brooch Pin with Paste Stones

Very old hand carved stone cameo pendant brooch made in gold fill metal. The metal is a combination of yellow gold and pinkier rose gold, although it is not very coppery. Nicely detailed with hand chased accents and cannetille portions, the red paste stones complement the colors of the metal and the cameo. Cameo is carved from a type of banded agate that is also referred to as Sardonyx.

Chatelaine style brooch measures 1 5/8" wide by 1 11/16" tall overall. The latch and pin in the back have been repaired but that was done well and is not visible from the front. It is also an older repair, likely to have been made no later than the 50s. The estimated original date for the brooch is 1880s.

Brooch is not marked and was carefully tested to verify metal content.
