Antique Woven Pearls Double Tassel Sautoir

This beautiful faux pearl long necklace (sautoir) measures 36" long overall, from tip of tassel to tip of tassel. It is constructed as a light weight rope and has a wonderful elegant presence without the actual weight.

Strung on red color either silk or cotton thread and joined towards the ends by one single early plastic bead, probably some type of celluloid or similar. This keeps the ends apart enough to achieve the design intended by the maker. It is unmarked.

The body of the necklace is about 3/8" thick. There are no repairs I could find, but one of the threads in the tassel has lost it's beads. Plenty of movement is left, though, and it is not noticeable unlesss you really look for it. The tips at the ends were all gold covered beads byut have lost the bottom gold color. They look as if they have little gold color bead caps. The necklace is circa 1920's.

In very good condition, as estated.
