Art Deco Cameo Pin Carved Shell Gold Vermeil Setting
Beautiful hand carved shell cameo set in Gold vermeil frame. It dates from the mid
1930s.The gorgeous Modernist/Art Deco style of the carving itself also
indicates that time period.
Gold vermeil is by definition gold plated Sterling Silver. Some of the
gold is worn off and you can see it in the recesses of the rope
patterned frame. Personally, I prefer it this way, showing gold and
silver color. You can also take it to your jeweler and have it
replated.
It
is 1 3/8" tall and 1 1/16" wide, and is in perfect vintage condition. Very
nicely detailed hair with curls, beautiful true Art Deco carving. I
just love the geometric and somewhat angular design. There is one strand of hair that seems
to float about her forehead and detail is excellent.
