Vintage 1920s solid Sterling Silver card case originally made for carrying cigarettes. The front cover is engraved with parallel lines (pin stripes) which have a symmetrical peak and create an interesting pattern. On the diamond shape at the upper left of the front case you will see the initials GD engraved. The back is smooth.
The case is marked on the clip "Elgin Am. MFG. CO. " and the number 813311, from factory.
It is engraved with the dates November 28, 22 (1922) and December 25, 20 (1920). Certainly two very important dates to it's wealthy previous owner at the early days of the Roaring 20s.
Case measures 4 1/2" by 3 3/8" and weighs a hefty 138 grams or 4.4 ozt.
It is in excellent vintage condition with only two very minor dimples on the back from regular wear. They are hard to see and do not detract from the beauty of the case. Some patina was left in place. Dark spots are ambient or camera lens reflections.
