Antique Victorian 14k Yellow Gold Pearl Earrings

Exquisite antique solid 14k Gold and pearl earrings dating from the Victorian Period, circa 1860s. These are Etruscan Revival style earrings. Each earring is incredibly well made with a large button pearl set in detailed bezel. The bezel is finished by a row of the tiniest seed pearls.

The seed pearls and the drop pearl are original to the earrings. The large cabochons are replaced. The original ones were Mabe pearls and damaged beyond repair. They were also incredibly heavy making the earrings uncomfortable to wear. The new button pearls are South Sea cultured pearls and are truly gorgeous, much higher quality than the Mabe pearls originally in place. They have excellent luster and Orient and have really brought the earrings back to life.

The pair weighs 6 pennyweights. The backs are solid and most of the weight comes from the 14k Gold.

Earrings measure approximately 1 3/8" long from the top of the wire to the tip of the pearl drop. The earrings are almost 7/8" wide and the pearls are approximately 11mm in diameter.

They are unmarked and were acid tested to verify the gold content. In excellent condition, these would be gorgeous Bridal earrings as well.
