Vintage Micromosaic/Micro Mosaic Heart Pin Brooch, Early 20th Century

Beautiful early 20th Century micromosaic heart pin brooch measures 1" tall by 7/8" at the widest point and 1/4" thick at the center.  The tesserae (tiny tiles)  are very small and create a lovely arrangement or colorful flowers framed in detailed scalloped edge. 

This brooch is estimated to date form the 1910s, the pin back looks to be a replacement made in the 1930s. The older the micromosaic, the smaller the tesserare. Some of the very early ones which date from the early 1800s are so fine you can barely see the lines, they look like painting.  The newer ones form the 1960s or so can be easily dated due to the larger tiles. This particular heart brooch has tiny, tiny tesserae.

In excellent vintage condition with no loss. Unmarked.
