Oil Paint Framed in 800 Silver Brooch Pin, Vintage
A very small oil paint becomes a beautiful pin or brooch when framed in 800 Silver. Wonderful detail on a beautiful flower vase subject, it even displays Impasto! Impasto is an oil painting technique where the paint is applied thickly, generally with a flexible metal spatula, in order to create texture which rises from the canvas.
The colors are beautiful, although not as neon as they may appear on a computer monitor. I suspect it is Italian in origin, definitely European.
It measures 1 5/8" (47mm) in diameter and is almost 1/4"(7mm) thick. Marked on the back with the number 800 within an oval for the silver content and "232E" or "232F" which probably stands for the artist.
This miniature painting is in remarkable condition, the silver is gold plated. Circa 1930s to the 1940s, some of the patina has been left and there is no loss of plating. Great Art To Wear!
