Vintage Modernist Sterling Mexican Clamper Bracelet Eagle Mark
Gorgeous and very unusual vintage Mexican Sterling Silver bangle/clamper bracelet features a shadow box style design and petroglyphic style depictions of horse, riders, the bull and toreador. The technique is fascinating and the result truly unusual. Each image is a stylized cut out, sometimes enhanced by small chased lines that complete the figures and the action.
Measurements are 2 1/4" inside diameter, slightly over 11/16" tall and 1/2" at the thickest point at the center. It weighs 23.9 grams.
Marked with the Eagle number 3 on the inside, "Mexico, Taxco, 925" in a circle surrounding the artist's initials of LC or LCI.
Bangle is in good condition, clasp works well and features safety chain. Due to the hollow core there are 2 small areas which are thinner and have indentations caused by regular wear. One is on the hind of one of the horses and the other is on the area near one of the Toreadores. Neither is obvious or serious and they do not detract from the beauty and sophistication of the design. Estimated to date from the 1940s to early 1950s.
