Beautiful reticulated Sterling Silver antique pin cushion dates from the late 1800s. It measures overall 2 3/4" by 2 5/8" at the widest point and 1" deep, not including the height of the pillow. Sterling weight is approximately 34.9 grams, over a dwight ounce. This weight does not include the pillow.
Pillow is custom made of light green velvet and is in excellent condition for it's age with no tears on the top. There is miniscule spot on the back where the fabric's weave is slightly opened. It is starting to show a bit of wear on the high points, which is consisten with age.
The Sterling work is gorgeous, very finely made with scroll patterns that point in all directions.
This beautiful antique pin cushion has British marks of the Lion Passant, the Anchor (for Birmingham) and a letter for the date. It is also stamped "Sterling" and hand inscribed with the numbers 62071-5 in very tiny letters only visible with a jeweler's loupe. Also marked with stamped number 315 and the symbol for the planet Mars, which is a an arrow coming out of a circle.
