Vintage Victorian Revival Buckle Shaped Dress Clip
Beautiful silver plated brass Victorian Revival dress clip shaped as a buckle. It dates from the 1930s Victorian Revival Period. Measures 2 5/8" long overall by 1 5/8" at the widest point. It has a nice curve to accommodate gathered fabric and would be a great scarf clip as well.
The overall design is beautiful, evocative of the Buckle jewelry of Victorian times and accented with stamped flower and leaf pattern. It is in good condition but there is some loss of plating on high points such as the prong and the very edge of the buckle itself. It is fairly even and makes the prong look gold tone against the silver tone buckle. Personally, I love it the way it is, gives it character and adds the gold as a design element.
The back dress clip itself is also beautifully ornate. It works very well and stays in place with the right amount of fabric. Circa 1930s, unsigned, a beautiful and unusual clip.
