Vintage Art Deco Chinese Double Drop Long Necklace
This beautiful Art Deco style Chinese necklace comes from my personal collection. It was purchased vintage in the 1980s. I love it, it is gorgeous, but I do not wear it much due to my lifestyle. It should go to a home where it will be loved and enjoyed. The necklace is estimated to date from the Art Deco Period, although it could be as new as the 60s. It was purchased as an older necklace but without a specific date I can remember.
It is made of a combination of silk thread, stones, Chinese Silver and Chinese Cloisonne beads. The workmanship is very good and the necklace is in very good condition. On each side of the necklace there is a carved gourd, which is sided by tubular cloisonne beads in Royal Blue. There is a round deep green Aventurine bead at the beginning and at the end of the set.
Necklace meets at a large almost 7/8" round natural genuine Turquoise bead, which has acquired a beautiful Mint Green color over the years. From this large center bead the silk cord divides into two. One end is finished by a large Aventurine drop and the other by a deep Carnelian drop. Each is finished by a filigree cap and a round bead on the top. The Carnelian drop is finished with an Amethyst round, the Aventurine drop is finished with a White Jade round. The filigree caps are gold gilt.
Measurements are:
Overall length up to the Turquoise round is approximately 26"
Overall drop including the large Turquoise is 3 1/4" approximately.
Size of the drops at the ends, approximately 1 1/4" to the top of the bead cap, by 3/4" at the widest point and 3/8" thick for the Carnelian drop. The Aventurine drop is 5/16" thick.
No markings, in very good vintage condition.
