Sagittarius Vintage Modernist Mexican Sterling Pendant
Absolutely stunning Vintage Modernist Mexican necklace and pendant for the astrological sign of Sagittarius, November 22 to December 21.
The pendant is a Modernist style one ounce Fine Silver (Pure Silver) round with Sagittarius on one side and the anatomically correct human on the other. This side is based
on Henry Cornelius Agrippa philosophy. It's symbolism links the macrocosm and microcosm by
superimposing the human figure on a pentagram, with symbols of the 5
known planets at that the time (Mercury through Saturn) on each corner.
It is a gorgeous design. There
is a small stylized Eagle's head on the human figure side and the letters "MS" on the
Sagittarius side. Both marks are very small and I can only see them
with a jeweler's loupe.
Pendant
is 1 5/8" in diameter not counting the bail and 3/16" thick. The Silver
round setting closes with a tiny screw near the bail. It also has
facets cut around the edge facing which adds a discreet sparkle to it.
The
substantial 27 1/2" long chain is entirely hand made. Each link is 7mm
by 5mm by 2mm. Chain is marked with the Eagle 3 mark, 925 and Sterling
on the hand made hook clasp.
Exquisite pendant and chain, truly unique. Total weight is 75.4 grams.
